Education On The Cloud

Is Education Cloud about education for the cloud or education on the cloud?  Surely, I anticipated such questions when I decided to sell solutions to Higher Education institutions. Besides, while the question may itself be unexpected, it has a rather predictable answer. Both, and more. Education Cloud is to be Education on the Cloud, for preparing the learners for the workplaces on the cloud. It is also about education by being on the Cloud itself.  Only thing I did not expect it to be is Cloudy Education. We can't afford that: Clarity and Confidence is absolutely essential if one has to be successful on the Workplaces on the Cloud, because remoteness demands greater communication and collaboration skills, not less. Indeed, Cloud is a well publicised technical term now and Education Cloud would immediately appear like another Cloud Solution for Education. Whether you are a technology enthusiast or not, it is perhaps still obvious that increasingly capable machines are changing the workplace.  One could be optimistic or fearful about these changes. But ignoring these changes is not an option. Change works your way once you participate in it, rather than let it hit you unprepared. The aspect of change I am particularly concerned about is the emergence of the digital workplace. I am on the wrong side of the age divide - a 'digital immigrant' as Marc Prensky would call me - and my work world has changed within a lifetime. Admittedly, I was one of the early immigrants - I started my work installing email systems when one still had to explain the differences between faxes and emails - and that perhaps gives me a sense of foreboding about the changes.
